“Sabo Grando” (an expression in the dialect of Grado, which means great Saturday) is a very popular event, which marks the beginning of the celebrations for the renowned boat pilgrimage of the “Perdòn di Barbana”, the main religious tradition in Grado, held on the first Sunday in July.
Programme for Saturday 05 July:
- 12.00 noon Bricola in the sea: Homage to the Madonna of the sea
- 6 p.m. Basilica of Sant'Eufemia: Holy Rosary and Holy Mass Singing of the 'Litanies of the Madonna'
- 9.00 p.m. Churchyard of the Basilica "Il Sabo grando" (by the Band "Città di Grado")

- 08.00 Holy Mass at the Basilica of St Euphemia
- 08.45 a.m. Procession from the Basilica to Mandracchio harbour
- 09.00 a.m. procession with boats to Barbana
- 09.45 a.m. Solemn Holy Mass presided over by the Archbishop in Barbana
- 12.00 noon Departure from Barbana
- 12.45 pm Arrival in the harbour and procession to the Basilica
- 01.30 pm Basilica: Te Deum of Thanksgiving
